I DIT IT!!!

I finally spent some time painting!!! I set aside a few hours in my schedule and planned to paint during that time, and I actually did it. It was great, too! Everything seemed to come back to me, all my teachers' voices popped back into my head and reminded me what to do. I guess it is sort of like riding a bike. Painting in oils again also made me remember why I like them so much better than acrylics. Oil paints go so much further than acrylics and they don't dry instantly like acrylics seem to. I used a lot less paint and covered a lot more canvas. And the paint I didn't use will still be useable next time. Brian and Maggie came downstairs with me and listened to music in the music room. It was fun, and I feel so much better!!! Here is a picture of what I got done in about 3 hours. It's on a 16x20" canvas that I had laying around. I recently acquired two huge boards from work that they were going to throw away. One has some water damage on the end, but I can saw that part off. I think I'll post the progress of this painting...Nancy is doing the same with one of her paintings and I think it looks like fun. Well, I'm gonna do some laundry. BYE!

Mere Christianity  Book I, Chapter 2  Some Objections In my last post, we discussed the existence of a real Right and Wrong, what Lewis calls the Law of Human Nature (in other words, how humans ought to behave), and we discussed the fact that we all break that law. Mere Christianity, Book I, Chapter 4: What Lies Behind the Law In very broad terms, there are two explanations for how our universe came to be.  The first is the idea that the universe is here by chance.  I am not an expert on the subject, but the very basic theory, in layman's terms, is that the big bang happened and since then the universe has been expanding, gases have formed stars, matter has formed planets and moons, and on our own planet, matter has formed over the years into living things with minds, all by chance.  (How is that for a run-on sentence?)  The second idea says that "what is behind the universe is more like a mind than it is like anything else we know.  That is to say, it is conscious, and has purposes, and prefers one thing to another."  This thing like a mind made the universe and made things like itself, things with minds.  I know there are other ideas but most of them fall into one of these two categories. Things that keep me awake

Well, I can't sleep tonight, for several reasons. I am too excited about Christmas and Maggie's first birthday coming up. I bought her gifts online tonight, and can't wait for them to get here. I am worrying about a lot of things. I feel like some big changes are about to happen and they could either be really good, or really bad. I had too much caffeine today. Mostly it's the things I'm worrying about, though. I shouldn't worry, I know. But I do anyway. I just can't seem to turn my brain off. Maybe it's more anticipation than worry. I'm anticipating a lot of things right now. Yes. That's it. Anticipation is making me wait. Isn't that part of a song? Well, I'm going to move on to something else to try to make myself tired.
